SCHOLARSHIPS TO ACCOUNTING STUDENTS

Background:
The Institute of Internal Auditors - Miami Chapter, Inc. intends to award three scholarships of $1,000.00 each to students pursuing a degree focusing on either Auditing or Accounting.  The scholarships are unrestricted in their use by the student.
 
Criteria:
  • Senior in college, or graduate student. Preferably, the student should be full time, as designated by the college.
  • The student is required to be a resident of either Dade or Broward counties.
  • The student must be pursuing a degree or track in Auditing or Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • The college must have its main campus located in either Dade or Broward counties.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 undergraduate or 3.5 graduate.
  • Bio or Resume for the student applying for the scholarship 
  • One reference from an auditing or accounting professor.
Essay of 250-500 words on one of the following topics:
  • What you expect to contribute to the auditing or accounting profession in the next 10 years?
  • What is the biggest issue that the auditing or accounting profession faces, and how should the issue be addressed?
  • How do you value your education, as it relates to auditing or accounting?
Process for Selection:
Each college is to select a maximum of 2 students for recommendation of the scholarship.   Individual students may also submit their application directly to the IIA Miami Chapter.   The final selection will be made by the Scholarship Selection Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors -Miami Chapter, Inc., who will inform the College and student of the intended award.
Deadline for application is October 31, 2009. The award decision is anticipated to be made by November 25, 2009. The award will be presented at the Chapter’s holiday event in December 2009.
